Following your dreams shouldn’t be an option…it should be your priority!

working-from-home       When your office is in the comfort of your own home!

I recently left my 12 year corporate job with a major Canadian bank to join a small but growing management consulting firm. The decision to make this change was definitely not an easy one but when I reflect back on these past three months, its been challenging adapting to my new world but its been rewarding as well.

I recall exactly how I felt after my first interview with the hiring Director – I was full of joy, hope, excitement and a renewed sense of passion. I remember telling my friends and family that this was ‘my dream job’ because there was going to be the opportunity to travel which is number 1 on my bucket list, working with new clients so the opportunity to build my professional network, being creative and providing out of the box recommendations and most importantly at the time, the flexibility to work from home. I needed to be sure because I was giving up a 12 year career with a multi-million dollar company with benefits, pension, seniority and so much more to join a company I had never heard of but when I thought about it long and hard, I decided to take a leap of faith.

Since joining this new company, not only have I had to opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and work with a team of highly skilled professionals, I have had the time to actually focus on myself and the things that are important to me such as going back to school, my health, my business ventures and starting my blog. This is all finally possible because I am not only no longer commuting three hours a day, but I have the flexibility to work from home!

I can finally say that not only do I have a job that I LOVE but I am also following my dreams and pursuing my goals that have been on the back-burner for way too many years. I realized how important it is to do the things you love, and love the things you do because you never want to wake up one day, look back and regret not taking a chance. That has always been my biggest fear and I don’t ever want it to come true so I am going for it all! Just this past month I enrolled in school for Digital Marketing, committed to starting my blog, created my own online fashion store which will be launching shortly, rejoined a network marketing company, got back on my healthy lifestyle journey and am committed to sticking to it and am attending new and exciting professional networking events! This was all a bit overwhelming at first because I have to ensure that nothing suffers – my full-time job, school work, launching my business and making sure I have time to spend with family and friends. It took a bit of time to juggle at first and some long nights and early morning but it has all been worth it.

Take a leap of faith and follow your dreams so you don’t work to make someone else’s come true. Your first step is writing down what you want making a plan and outlining what you want to achieve – this can be as simple as your vision and mission statement to a full-blown business plan based on what you are trying to accomplish. Put some timelines and milestones down so you are tracking towards results, do your research and finally, turn those dreams into reality. What’s the worst that will happen – they will come true?

Don’t let fear stand in your way because anything is possible when you are determined, passionate and motivated to reach your goals! If you need some help or motivation on making your dreams a priority and bringing them to life, let’s talk because no dream should be left unchased!
